Flavia Stephen Mayo; a Tanzanian lady, full of life and passionate about learning the modern technology and AI.She did bachelor of Science in Informatics from the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) for her first degree.
She did short courses in Aeronautical Information Officer and Aeronautical information management automation from Civil Aviation Training Centre.
Currently she is a master’s student from the Nelson Mandela Institution of Science and Technology. Pursuing masters in Information Communication, Science and Engineering, Specializing in Information Technology System development management.
Her research is based in the application of AI, Specifically AI in Agriculture. She working on developing a Deep Learning Model for the early detection of maize disease in Tanzania. The model will have the ability to detect two maize diseases that are big threat to the country which are Maize Lethal Necrosis (MLN), and Maize Streak Virus (MSV) when deployed in a mobile based application.
She believes the tool will help farmers, agriculture experts, and plant pathologists to detect these diseases for early control. Moreover, it will pave a way for more research.
She aspires to be a data scientist who is able to solve community issues using AI and technology.
